Where to Buy Art if We’re Not Rich

There are now lots of great options for those who want good-looking original art for their walls without paying eye-watering prices. Try these five online art retailers to bring life to our homes without killing our bank accounts.

SOCIETY6

A vast marketplace for hundreds of thousands of artists to sell their work worldwide. Society6 feature wall art prints starting at around $10. They also sell all sorts of other goodies that their community of artists have put their stamp on from shower curtains to stationary to stickers (above). A good choice for those with quirky tastes who like a light-hearted touch.

MINTED

Another crowdsourced art site with prints starting at just $20, but Minted feels a touch more grown-up than Society6. They have a rotating selection of featured artists — like Santa Cruz artist Caryn Owen (above) — to help offer inspiration. And the landing page for each artist encourages you to invest in emerging talent — both emotionally and financially.

PAPER COLLECTIVE

Prints start at around $30 and much of the work is modern and minimal, like these illustrations from Dutch artist LouLou Avenue (above).
