SOCIETY6
A vast marketplace for hundreds of thousands of artists to sell their work worldwide. Society6 feature wall art prints starting at around $10. They also sell all sorts of other goodies that their community of artists have put their stamp on from shower curtains to stationary to stickers (above). A good choice for those with quirky tastes who like a light-hearted touch.
MINTED
Another crowdsourced art site with prints starting at just $20, but Minted feels a touch more grown-up than Society6. They have a rotating selection of featured artists — like Santa Cruz artist Caryn Owen (above) — to help offer inspiration. And the landing page for each artist encourages you to invest in emerging talent — both emotionally and financially.
PAPER COLLECTIVE
Danish company Paper Collective work with artists around the world to create chic prints while also promoting good causes. This sustainable operation donate a portion of proceeds from each sale to charity and are currently building a school in Nepal. Prints start at around $30 and much of the work is modern and minimal, like these illustrations from Dutch artist LouLou Avenue (above).
20×200
20×200 were among the pioneers of offering affordable, unique art online. Their slogan is ‘Art for Everyone’ and prices start at $35. They also like to connect artists with buyers by publishing informative bios of their artists online and shipping each print with an information card about the piece.
SAATCHIART
For those looking to take their collecting a little more seriously, SaatchiArt offers a large selection of pieces at accessible prices. There are, for example, lots of limited edition original photographs for $150 with the prints available for $40. They also offer a free Art Advisory service where their team of curators will help customers find the perfect piece for our space, style and budget.
